Chicago activist Tonya Neeley (Viola Davis) dreams of having the drug and crime infested public housing projects torn down. To achieve her goal, she starts a petition and now needs the signature of the project's architect, Leo Waters (Anthony LaPaglia). Tonya does contact Leo at his university class, but his refusal to sign sets off a chain of events that will directly impact both Tonya's and Leo's families.
