A landing party from the Enterprise beams down to the planet and Dr. McCoy treats the king. When the team tries to beam back up, they are unable to do so. The Platonians have great powers and decide the Enterprise members should stay on as jesters for their entertainment. There must be SOME way to deal with this situation. After crew members start disappearing–including Kirk–we find out that the Scalosians' lives move so rapidly that they are invisible to "normal" beings. This was caused by radiation released during a volcanic eruption and caused the men to be sterile to boot. The material is still in their drinking water, which crew members drank. So–the women on Scalos send out distress calls to lure men in order to propagate the race. Will Kirk be able to get his problem back to Spock and the others? So what if he does? Hmmmm.
