  Beethoven is back with yet another set of characters as 12-year-old Sara (Daveigh Chase) and Beethoven grab a bus and head west to Quicksilver for the summer. Awaiting her is Uncle Freddy (Dave Thomas) who is not the only kook in town; it appears that exposure to mercury from an old mine has caused most of the townsfolk to be odd. Beethoven stirs things up when he starts digging.

The story ends on Halloween when the world that Donnie knows does come to an end, and the puzzle pieces fit together neatly.

Katie had told a friend that immediately after watching a certain video, her phone rang and a voice said, "Seven days." Exactly seven days later Katie died. Now, after Rachel and her young son (David Dorfman) watch the same video, she is faced with the fact that she has less than a week to solve the mystery or be doomed to Katie's fate.
