The story is narrated by Willie Dixon (Cedric the Entertainer) and follows the lives of the talented performers who recorded their songs at Chess Records studio.

An inside look at life in a poor, NYC Latino neighborhood is the gift of writer/director Darnell Martin. This story revolves around one young married couple, Lisette and Chino Linares (Lauren Velez and Jon Seda) and how they AND their neighbors handle adversities when Chino goes to prison for looting during a blackout. Although poor and out of luck, the Linares are involved with their neighbors, a benefit not so common in today's white suburbs.
