This time around, the St. Bernard, Beethoven, is still living with George and Alice Newton (Charles Grodin and Bonnie Hunt) and their children Ryce (Nicholle Tom), Emily (Sara Rose Karr), and Ted (Christopher Castile). Beethoven meets another St. Bernard, Missy, and she becomes his mate and bears a litter of adorable puppies. The Newton kids kidnap the puppies and head off with their parents for a vacation in Montana–with Regina and her boyfriend Floyd (Chris Penn) in pursuit.
