Dr. Jonathan Hemlock (Clint Eastwood) is a college professor who just happens to be a government secret intelligence agent during his off-hours. It seems there is a problem in the Swiss Alps, and Hemlock, hoping that this will be his last mission, is sent into training for his assassination assignment. Hemlock's victim will be one of three men attempting to climb the Eiger mountain range in the Swiss Alps, and he joins their expedition.
