Thomas does get some help from government operative Jedburgh (Ray Winstone) who has been sent to look into the situation and hide evidence. But, it is Thomas who must uncover the facts.

His son Robert (Sam Rockwell) plays in the Denver orchestra, but Frank learns that he is not the conductor he led his father to believe he is. When he visits daughter Rosie (Drew Barrymore) in Las Vegas, Frank learns that she is caring for a friend's baby and is not the successful Las Vegas dancer she dreamed of being. None appear happy to see Frank who finally figures out that they are not as happy and successful as he believed–and that they are hiding information about David. And, all Frank wants is to be a good father.
