44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shoot-Out   2003     2 and a half stars  User Rating      R, 95 min.
Genre: Drama
Director: Yves Simoneau
Cast: Michael Madsen, Ron Livingston, Mario Van Peebles, Andrew Bryniarski, Oleg Taktarov, Ray Baker, Douglas Spain, Jullian Dulce Vida, Dale Dye, Clare Carey, Alex Meneses, Katrina Law

This made-for-cable TV film is based on a real event that is often considered to have been the most intense shootout in Los Angeles Police history. On February 28, 1997, two bank robbers–who were known as "The High Incident Bandits" due to their crime spree–attempted to rob a bank in North Hollywood. The heavily armed pair kept numerous police and S.W.A.T. team members at bay for 44 minutes. This film recreates (with some fictionalization) that event.    1 User Review

  Dreyfuss/Hunter at their best.
Interestingly I would have thought that these two would have starred in more movies together, because they obviously have a connection which shows in the movie.
I love Holly Hunter in this movie. She is a classy actor.

This remake of the 1953 film is a near disaster. The only interesting comment is that the boy in the earlier film is now the police chief (Jimmy Hunt). A boy (Black's real-life son) sees an alien landing in his back yard, and then sees the townsfolk get taken over. Watch the earlier version.
