  Barney Chavez (Raymond Burr) oversees a jungle plantation and kills the plantation owner Klaas Van Gelder (Paul Maxey) so that he can marry Maxey's widow Dina (Barbara Payton). When a servant realizes what Barney has done, the servant puts something in Barney's drink that turns him into a murdering ape by night. Now, it is the job of police chief Taro (Lon Chaney Jr.) to solve the killings.
