Genre: Drama
Director: Veljko Bulajic
Cast: Yul Brynner, Curt Jurgens, Sergei Bondarchuk, Orson Welles, Hardy Kruger, Sylva Koscina, Franco Nero

The original filmed version of this movie was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Sadly, the effect was lost when more than 60 minutes of celluloid was deleted from the American reproduction. While the plot now appears confused, it is the story of the Nazis' brutal invasion of Yugoslavia in 1943.

I love this movie. The story is true as are the characters. It's hard to believe that this woman who was told she didn't qualify to be a missionary to China could accomplish such a mission. She was truly a great woman. Considered an ugly duckling by some, she still manages to find love with a Eurasian soldier.
