  In this sequel, Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) rigs the computer, and Interpol provides a successor to Inspector Clouseau, Sgt. Clifton Sleigh (Ted Wass), who is even more inept than his predecessor. The motive behind Dreyfus' plot is that he is sure Sleigh will never be able to track down the stolen Pink Panther diamond. But, will Dreyfus' plan backfire?
