Roberts is an honest cop, but his department is corrupt, and Detective Trupo (Josh Brolin) works to compromise Frank's integrity. Violence erupts in the attempt to pin down Lucas, and during the confrontation between Roberts and Trupo only one will emerge victorious. The film received two Academy Award nominations including Best Supporting Actress (Ruby Dee).

They get jobs at Cleo McDowell's (John Amos) food emporium, and romance blossoms between Akeem and Cleo's daughter Lisa (Shari Headley). But now, Akeem's parents (James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair) arrive on the scene prepared to take Akeem home to Africa. Eddie and Arsenio take on several other roles in addition to their primary ones. Good fun.

Then, one day, Norbit is reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Kate (Thandie Newton), who arrives to run the orphanage. Kate is engaged to slick Deion (Cuba Gooding Jr.), and Rasputia is more than prepared to keep Kate and Norbit apart. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Makeup.

For a much better focus on Pearl Harbor, watch Richard Fleischer's "Tora! Tora! Tora!" An Academy Award was received for Best Sound Editing, and the film was nominated for three other awards.
