Avalanche 1999 PG-13, 105 min. Genre: Drama aka: Escape from Alaska
Director: Steve Kroschel Cast: Thomas Ian Griffith, Caroleen Feeney, R. Lee Ermey, C. Thomas Howell, Geoffrey Lower, John Ashton, Hilary Shepard, Brett Baker, Gary Kasper, Bill Bacon
Poor stuff here as an environmental activist protests a proposed Alaska pipeline which, she contends, will cause increases in the number of avalanches. An avalanche had killed Lia's (Caroleen Feeney) husband several years earlier, which provides the impetus for her protest. Perhaps her return to Juneau would also increase the frequency of avalanches. One good thing about this picture: the footage of Alaska's natural beauty. 1 User Review

| | Oh Gag Me! Not even filmed in Alaska | annitta 05/08/2009 | If anyone is interested, there are NO roads to Juneau, Alaska and NO polar bears hunting people on the non-existing roads to Juneau. I can not believe the amount of people who watched this awful - and I do mean awful- piece of sci-fi about Alaska. I mean, there are still people who believe Northern Exposure was filmed in Alaska. Puleezzzzeeee.
Yes, there are avalanches every year, just like on the only road driving down to the Kenai Peninsula, but that is part of living here.
It would have been nice if someone would have done some kind of research and goggled or Yahoo Juneau Alaska, or even called Juneau's Visitor's Bureau.
Won't someone, someday get it right? After all look at that stupid vampire move about 30 days of darkness. Oh come on, I have been to Barrow and they have a bus system and everything--now there are polar bears THERE. The movie made them look like only a few people lived in a tiny town. Sigh
Good grief, makes about as much sense as having Palin for governor. |

| | Kinda stupid but picks up when... | Bulwer 02/01/2007 | | This story has all kinds of holes in the plot, it's inane but typical for the time period. It only gets going when Jenilee removes her jacket towards the end and is wearing nothing but a thin tank (no pun intended) top! GOOD GAWD!! Thank goodness for Slow Mo!! |
