When Mr. Knowles (Judd Nelson), a favorite teacher at Lincoln High, is unfairly suspended, the suspension sets off a reaction from students that quickly explodes in violence when one student, Ziggy (Robert Richard), grabs Officer Jackson's (Forest Whitaker) police weapon. The gun goes off. Within minutes the school is vacated–with the exception of six students, led by Ziggy, who are now holding Jackson hostage.
