American Mary Hunter (Rossana Podesta) and her new husband, Max (Georges Riviere), move into his family's old castle. After Max departs on business, Mary hears cries from a woman and, after investigating, comes upon a torture chamber–now a museum. And in a statue-like coffin called "The Virgin of Nuremberg," she finds a recently dead, bloody woman. Thus begins a series of murders that she believes are the responsibility of Max or the scarred caretaker, Erich (Christopher Lee). Pure Gothic horror. Dubbed in English.
