This film is a gentle adventure meant to amuse young children. It succeeds in telling a story about two places–the magical Island of Sodor and the "real" town of Shining Time–and Mr. Conductor (Alec Baldwin) who uses his magic gold dust to travel on the magic railroad, which is pulled by the steam engine Thomas (voice of Edward Glen) and his friends. Thomas is having problems with the evil diesel engine, Diesel 10 (voice of Neil Crone), who wants to destroy a magical lost engine, which just happens to be in the possession of Burnett Stone (Peter Fonda), but nobody knows that Burnett has it.
