"Shrek" was the first winner of an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The King and Queen are shocked to learn that their daughter is married to an ogre and that she has become one too. It doesn't take long for Fairy Godmother (voice of Jennifer Saunders) to send that delightful killer cat, Puss In Boots (voice of Antonio Banderas), on a mission to get rid of Shrek so that Fiona will marry Fairy Godmother's son, Prince Charming (voice of Rupert Everett). But plans go awry, and, by story's end, Puss In Boots is working with Shrek instead of against him. The film received two Academy Award nominations, including Best Animated Feature.

Meanwhile, Fiona, who is pregnant, is left to fend off a palace coup staged by Prince Charming (voice of Rupert Everett) who has assistance from fairy tale villains including Captain Hook, the Evil Queen, Rumplestiltskin, the Big Bad Wolf, and the Headless Horseman. But, Fiona and her mother Queen Lillian (voice of Julie Andrews) get help from Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty in their valiant effort to retake the kingdom.
