The Apostate   1998     1 star    R, 95 min.
Genre: Horror / Thriller
Director: William Gove
Cast: Dennis Hopper, Richard Grieco, Efrain Figueroa, Bridget White, Kristin Minter, Clive Turner, Frank Medrano, Pablo Cunqueiro, Branden Williams, Perri Lister

Set in San Juan, Puerto Rico, this film follows a priest (Richard Grieco), who is also a painter, as he helps the police find the person responsible for grisly murders, including the murder of his brother. The search takes him to haunts for artists, and one artist in particular. Barely watchable.

Howling V: The Rebirth   1989     2 stars    R, 99 min.
Genre: Horror / Thriller
Director: Neal Sundstrom
Cast: Philip Davis, Victoria Catlin, Elizabeth She, Ben Cole, William Shockley, Mark Silverstein, Stephanie Faulkner, Clive Turner

This has nothing to do with former movies of this series and is somewhat better than most of them despite the very low budget look and feel. The story concerns guests in a castle who are getting knocked off one by one. Who is the werewolf responsible? Same story as "And Then There Were None" and "Ten Little Indians."

Howling: New Moon Rising   1995     bomb    R, 90 min.
Genre: Horror / Thriller
Director: Clive Turner
Cast: John Ramsden, Ernest Kester, Clive Turner, John Huff, Elizabeth She, Jaqueline Armitage

This seventh film of the series, which started off with a good entry, really stinks. There is nothing good to salvage it. A reporter investigates murders in a small town, which, it turns out, has werewolf problems. Most of the cast is made up of residents of a California town, who play themselves. A good way to keep the budget down.
