Billy and McGraw tame the hawk, but then it attacks a bully who is fighting Billy. When a group of vigilantes decide to take action against McGraw, Billy talks his father, Dan (Clint Walker), into coming to the aid of McGraw and to stand up against the vigilantes. An entertaining Western for the whole family.

The convicts have either been sentenced to death or life imprisonment and include sexual pervert Archer Maggott (Telly Savalas), psychotic Victor Franko (John Cassavetes), and lame-brained killer Vernon Pinkley (Donald Sutherland). Reisman must train them how to perform as a unit when they dress in Nazi uniforms and overtake a French chateau occupied by German officers. Filled with suspense along with comedy to lighten the mood.

When grisly murders result, two inept detectives investigate. The "Airplane"-style spoof doesn't work. Not at all.

The Army fights back and drives Villa back over the Mexican border. The big scene involves a head-on crash of two trains.
