But Erik is captured by the Germans and, after brutal torture, reveals the plans. Some good action footage in this "Guns of Navarone"-inspired film.

Peter is leading the life of a normal student–until he goes on a school trip and is bitten by a genetically altered spider. Now, Peter finds that he has unusual powers. But, using those powers is not that easy, and Peter does not make use of his new talent when a burgular murders Uncle Ben. Then Peter remembers that Uncle Ben told him, "With great power, there must also come great responsibility." That's what it takes, and now Peter uses those extraordinary powers to fight crime. However, the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) is out there ready to stop any of Peter's good deeds.

Add to this Peter's former best friend, Harry Osborn (James Franco), who has been training for revenge against Spider-Man because he blames Spider-Man for his father's death. And, as if this was not enough, freelance photographer Eddie Brock (Topher Grace) is plotting to take Peter's job at the Daily Bugle. But, Eddie/the New Goblin is transformed into Venom after coming in contact with an alien goo that also permeates the Spider-Man costume and brings out the dark side of Peter. And finally, Peter's romance with Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) continues down its tumultuous road. If series continues, will miss James Franco and his character "Harry". Tobie Maguire is perfect as the subdued, conflicted Peter Parker. Also enjoyed Peter Parker's more aggressive, cocky persona in this one! I love these guys... |

Originally intended as the pilot for a TV series, the series did not come to be.

Winning the America's Cup is the biggest prize in yacht racing, and that's what this film is all about. Will Parker (Matthew Modine), sailing for owner Morgan Weld (Cliff Robertson), loses the Cup race and also loses his girlfriend, Kate (Jennifer Grey), to boot. Despondent, he tracks her down. Her new boyfriend (Stellan Skarsgard) designs innovative airplanes and Will talks him into designing a boat. That accomplished, Will is ready to regain the America's Cup. Excellent photography that captures the thrill of the racing, but otherwise the film drags somewhat.
