  It is 1941, and young Germans are attending an exclusive school in order to train as future leaders of the Third Reich. Despite his anti-Nazi father's objections, talented boxer Friedrich Weimer (Max Riemelt) makes it into the school. Once there, he befriends Albrecht Stein (Tom Schilling) who questions the actions of his own father, the Nazi military governor of the area, and gives Friedrich his first glimpse of what is going on in Germany. As he continues at school, more insights will follow.

  In this sequel to 1998's "Henry Fool," Henry (Thomas Jay Ryan) has been missing for seven years, and his wife Fay (Parker Posey) is having problems with their son, 14-year-old Ned (Liam Aiken). Meanwhile, Fay's brother Simon (James Urbaniak) has been serving time in prison for helping Henry escape the law, and Fay negotiates with CIA agent Fulbright (Jeff Goldblum) for Simon's release. She is given a mission in undercover work involving a trip to Paris to retrieve Henry's notebooks containing his autobiographical confessions. Fay leaves for Europe, joins forces with Bebe (Elina Lowensohn) while running into spies and assassins, and ends up in Turkey tracking down political terrorists. Now, Fay must sort out how much of this Henry has been involved in.

However, his sister, Lotte Lohmann (Alexandra Maria Lara), remains in East Berlin, and Harry is determined to get her out. His solution: dig a simple tunnel under the wall. But, the project grows to an enormous tunnel to accommodate many others who want to escape the East German regime. Based on a true story.
