When he gets the name of her lover, Charles calmly confronts the man and kills him, followed by getting rid of the evidence and dumping the body into a pond. The police question Helene, but she lies about the affair and when she finds a picture of her lover in Charles' pocket, she does not tell the police. In fact, Helene has a new respect for Charles. Excellent Hitchcock-like tale.
