When he gets the name of her lover, Charles calmly confronts the man and kills him, followed by getting rid of the evidence and dumping the body into a pond. The police question Helene, but she lies about the affair and when she finds a picture of her lover in Charles' pocket, she does not tell the police. In fact, Helene has a new respect for Charles. Excellent Hitchcock-like tale.

His quest takes him to an actress (Caroline Cellier), with whom he has an affair, and then to the son (Marc Di Napoli) of suspected killer Paul (Jean Yanne) who runs a body shop. An excellent thriller; one of Director Claude Chabrol's best films.

  Violette Noziere (Isabelle Huppert) is bored with her life but still finds thrills in Parisian cafes where she meets her lover Jean Dabin (Jean-Francois Garreaud). When Jean needs money, Violette devises a plot in which she can inherit money after she kills her parents, Baptiste and Germaine (Jean Carmet and Stephane Audran). Violette puts her plans into action, and Baptiste dies, but Germaine survives and sends Violette to prison. Based on a true story that took place in Paris during the 1930s.
