Is Lucas living in the real world, or is it his imagination?

  This film chronicles the marriage of famous poet T.S. Eliot (Willem Dafoe) and Vivienne (Miranda Richardson). It was not until after their marriage that Eliot found out that his wife had a "condition," a misdiagnosed hormonal disorder that caused mood swings. The diagnosis of "emotional problems" resulted in making the condition worse with her prescribed medications (including liquor). The troubled marriage, which included her being placed in a mental institution, had a great influence on T.S. Eliot's work and life. Miranda Richardson was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar and Rosemary Harris was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
