Set in the late-17th century, this swashbuckling story involves the efforts of Lagardere (Daniel Auteuil) to regain the family inheritance for Aurore (Marie Gillain). During the greedy Gonzague's (Fabrice Luchini) plot to gain the family fortune 20 years earlier, Lagardere was a survivor–along with the rightful heir: an infant girl, Aurore. Now, Lagardere schemes to avenge the earlier atrocities.
