Virginia Woolf's novel "Mrs. Dalloway" connects the stories of three different women–Virginia Woolf (Nicole Kidman), Laura Brown (Julianne Moore), and Clarissa (Meryl Streep)–in three different eras–1925, 1951, and 2001–who resort to suicide as the solution for their problems. Very well acted, but with this cast what else could one expect? Nicole Kidman won the Best Actress Oscar for her excellent performance. In addition, the film received eight nominations, including Best Picture, Director, Actress in a Supporting Role (Julianne Moore), and Actor in a Supporting Role (Ed Harris).

As an updated version of the 1960's TV show, the Mod Squad is still investigating crime. This time around, it is a conspiracy behind the murder of their boss that draws the attention. From its opening scene, this film suffers from a downhill slide into mediocrity.

Another problem enters the scene when the scheming sons of Stormhold's king (Peter O'Toole) also want the star, which their father tossed into the heavens on his deathbed. The star holds the key to the kingdom. That same star knocked Yvaine from the sky and now hangs around her neck. Then, to add to Tristan's trials, witches (Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Alexander, and Joanna Scanlan) want Yvaine's heart because it will bestow beauty and eternal life on anyone who cuts it out and eats it. The special effects, along with the characters, provide great viewing.
