Gene Watson (Johnny Depp) is tossed into a van by a couple (Christopher Walken and Roma Maffia) posing as police officers and is told that he has 80 minutes to assassinate the Governor of California (Marsha Mason) or kidnappers will kill his six-year-old daughter, Lynn (Courtney Chase). The plot thickens as Watson races against the clock and discovers numerous other characters conspiring against the Governor.
