While on a campaign stop in Toronto, the President of the U.S., Adam Scott (Hal Holbrook), is kidnapped by South American terrorist Roberto Assanti (Miguel Fernandes) and his partner Linda Steiner (Cindy Girling). Assanti handcuffs himself to Scott and then claims that he is wired with explosives ready to detonate if demands are not met. Secret Service agent Jerry O'Connor (William Shatner) heads up the rescue team. Van Johnson and Ava Gardner play Vice-President Ethan Richards and his wife Beth.
