Doris Day sings "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be Will Be)," which won an Oscar. Previously made in 1934 by Hitchcock 1934.

When they reach an abandoned station, they fall into the hands of bandit Frank Usher (Richard Boone) and his henchmen Chink and Billy Jack (Henry Silva and Skip Homeier) who hold the passengers captive. Hoping to make a deal, cowardly Willard tells Usher that Doretta's father is wealthy. The ploy does not work for Frank, and Usher kills Frank but then holds Doretta for ransom. Tensions rise while Usher waits for the ransom, and, meanwhile, romance blooms between Pat and Doretta.
