"Othello" gets a new persona and setting in this made-for-British TV film. Racial tension reigns in near-future London, and John Othello (Eamonn Walker), a black policeman, is promoted to Police Commissioner over his friend and mentor, Ben Jago (Christopher Eccleston). Jago not only thinks he is best qualified for the job, he desperately wants it. Thus, he starts a campaign of lies against Othello and Othello's white wife.
