Jerry Ferro (Adam Carolla) was a Golden Glove winner when he was 19 but is now working as a carpenter and teaching boxing lessons at the gym. His life hits a new low when he is fired from his job, but then Jerry stumbles into the chance of competing in the Olympics when Coach Eddie Bell (Tom Quinn) persuades him to lose weight and start serious training. He finds self-respect while training and even manages to begin a romantic relationship with public defender Lindsay Pratt (Heather Juergensen). Now, after a 20-year hiatus, Jerry is training for Olympic gold.
