Rose Da Silva's (Radha Mitchell) adopted daughter Sharon (Jodelle Ferland) is suffering from a fatal disease, and Rose flees from her home and husband Christopher (Sean Bean) with Sharon in tow in search of a faith healer. They arrive in the eerily foggy town of Silent Hill, which Sharon seems to remember from her past, and Sharon disappears following a car accident leaving Rose to follow what she believes is Sharon's silhouette. Accompanied by police officer Cybil Bennett ((Laurie Holden), Rose searches the dark town for Sharon while demons and zombies rise from the ground, and Rose soon realizes she is only a pawn in a very dangerous game.
