The story flashes back and forth between air traffic control centers and the flight itself as ordinary people were caught in a dire situation during which they colllectively determined to resist the terrorists now flying the plane by rushing the cockpit–or die trying to accomplish their heroic deed. The film recieved two Oscar nominations, including Best Director.
