Darren Shan (Chris Massoglia) and his friend Steve (Josh Hutcherson) meet aging vampire Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly) while attending a traveling freak show. Larten fakes Dennis' death and turns him into a blood sucker. As a member of the undead, Darren joins the freak show and finds himself in the middle of a war between the vampires and their rivals, the Vampanese.
