This story is set in the Bible belt town of Kingfisher, Oklahoma and involves a few story lines. Aimsley DuPree (Martha Plimpton) is a lonely waitress who wrote to prisoner Jack Stillings (Kevin Anderson). Jack found God during his incarceration, and when released he and Aimsley married and now Aimsley is pregnant. Another focus is on a troubled boy, Tom Spencer (Nick Stahl), who cannot speak of the brutal crime he witnessed despite kind interrogation from Sheriff Sam Rogers (Hal Holbrook).
