Through the use of motion-capture technology, the real actors in this film are transformed into digitally animated visions capable of performing powerful action sequences. The story is based on the Old English poem, which is set in sixth-century Denmark where King Hrothgar (voice of Anthony Hopkins) is in trouble when the monster Grendel (voice of Crispin Glover) declares war on his kingdom. Beowulf (voice of Ray Winstone) arrives on the scene and eventually does slay Grendel but then finds himself tempted, seduced, and corrupted by a water demon who is Grendel's Mother (voice of Angelina Jolie). Beowulf fathers a son with Grendel's Mother, and now, years later, he is destined to fight to the death his dragon son.

The Polar Express 2004 G, 92' min. Genre: Animation / Family / Adventure / Drama / Fantasy
Director: Robert Zemeckis Cast: Tom Hanks, Leslie Zemeckis, Eddie Deezen, Hayden McFarland, Peter Scolari, Michael Jeter, Steven Tyler, Phil Fondacaro, Debbie Lee Carrington, Ed Gale, Jimmy "Jax" Pinchak, Nona Gaye, Chris Coppola, Charles Fleischer, Isabella Peregrina

Instead of the jingle of the sleigh, a magic train, driven by a kind conductor (Tom Hanks), appears, and Billy climbs aboard for a trip to the North Pole. Billy and the other kids on board arrive at Santa's workshop where Santa gives Billy a sleigh bell. The next morning, on Christmas Day, Billy wakes up at home and finds the sleigh bell under his Christmas tree. Animation in "The Polar Express" reflects the drawings in Chris Van Allsburg's 1986 Caldecott Medal winning book and uses motion capture (using a computer to develop a virtual 3-D image of the actor) to enhance the story. Visually stunning. The film received three Academy Award nominations.
