Barker (Bob Bartlett). They join a hunting party on the ice floes where Jed tries to kill Luke. But, Jed is blinded by the snow, and Luke helps him find his way back to safety on the boat. Jed regains his sight and, from that moment on, becomes Luke's loyal defender.
