But, she isn't sure that a "good" life is better than the one she had, and her lover (Conrad Veidt) lures her back into the criminal world when she aids him in a kidnap and murder plot. There is a murder trial, but Anna is cleared, goes through a spiritual rebirth, and finds a new life with Dr. Segert who has finally realized that he loves her.
