On Larry's first night at the museum, he falls asleep and awakens to a museum filled with animated dinosaurs, dioramas, and wax figures that have come to life. Larry learns that this has been happening since the 1950s after the arrival of an Egyptian Tablet, and he now understands that his job is to make sure the museum is back in order by the time it opens each morning. Santa is actually a struggling songwriter, Ben Armstrong (Morris Chestnut), who falls for Nancy, and they begin dating. All goes well–until Ben meets rap impresario J.Jizzy (Charles Q. Murphy) who wants to record Ben's songs, and they become partners. But there is a problem: J.Jizzy just happens to be Nancy's ex-husband, and John-John, who is determined to get his parents back together, wants Ben out of their lives.
