A childless couple, ex-con H.I. McDunnough (Nicolas Cage) and his cop wife Edwina (Holly Hunter), decide they want a child. Not being the conventional couple, they find an alternative to adoption: they steal one of wealthy Nathan Arizona's (Trey Wilson) quintuplets, Nathan Jr. (T.J. Kuhn). The story goes on from there as the ditzy duo tries child rearing.
