After getting in trouble with local thugs, rapper Rob (Omarion Grandberry) is sent to Puerto Rico to stay with his estranged father Roberto (Giancarlo Esposito), Roberto's wife Marivi (Rosa Arredondo), and her son Javi (Victor Rasuk). The boys become friends and, together, pursue their dream of becoming Reggaeton stars. To that end, they join with dancer Carol "CC" Reyes (Zulay Henao). "CC" connects them with music producer Jeffrey Skyler (James McCaffrey) who offers them a trip to New York to cut an album. The trip proves to be a failure–until Rob's dad steps in with his friend, superstar Voltio (Julio Ramos), and the boys see hope in fulfilling their dream.

The women arrive at the same time as a convention of Nigerian doctors whose culture has taught them to prefer women with meat on their bodies, and lives take a turn.
