When Heidi returns to the Swiss Alps after the holidays, she is reunited with Grandfather who is now totally blind. Elizabeth's father, Dan Wyler (John Gavin), takes him to Zurich where a surgeon restores his eyesight. Now, their problem is solved, and Heidi and Grandfather happily return to the Swiss Alps. The story is complemented by several original songs.
