Later, Bridget runs across Mark again, he expresses an interest in her, and now both men compete for Bridget's attention. Zellweger excels in her role of the biologically ticking Bridget, and she received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

In the second story, Daniel Daronda (Hugh Dancy) is a young Jew who is attracted to Gwendolen and is influenced by Mordecai (Daniel Evans) who lectures Deronda to be true to his heritage. When Deronda finds his inner-self, he finds true love with Mordecai's sister, Mirah (Jodhi May).

But the centerpiece of the biography is the story of his personal life with his wife, Clementine (Vanessa Redgrave).
