  This time around, the St. Bernard, Beethoven, is still living with George and Alice Newton (Charles Grodin and Bonnie Hunt) and their children Ryce (Nicholle Tom), Emily (Sara Rose Karr), and Ted (Christopher Castile). Beethoven meets another St. Bernard, Missy, and she becomes his mate and bears a litter of adorable puppies. But, Missy's hateful owner Regina (Debi Mazar) takes Missy away, and plans to use her in a divorce settlement. The Newton kids kidnap the puppies and head off with their parents for a vacation in Montana–with Regina and her boyfriend Floyd (Chris Penn) in pursuit.

  Newly graduated from college, Ryden Malby (Alexis Bledel) has dreams for her future; however, they appear to be put on hold when her nemesis, Jessica Bard (Catherine Reitman), gets Ryden's dream job, and Ryden is forced to move back to her eccentric family's home. Her family–Dad (Michael Keaton), Mom ( Jane Lynch), little brother (Bobby Coleman), and Grandma (Carol Burnett)–is happy to have her home. But, Ryden is unhappy, except for the times she is with her best friend Adam (Zach Gilford). Finally, Ryden is offered what she believes is her ideal job, and now she has a bigger problem when Adam decides to attend graduate school far away. Is the "perfect" job really what Ryden needs to find happiness?
