Sister James reports that the school's only Black student, Donald Miller (Joseph Foster), smelled like alcohol after visiting Father Flynn. Now, Sister Aloysius sets out to rid the school of Father Flynn's influence and, in the process, nearly tears the community apart. The film received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Actress (Streep), Supporting Actor (Hoffman), and both Amy Adams and Viola Davis (for her role as Donald Miller's mother) for Supporting Actress.

Christina thinks that is a great idea, moves in with Juan, but ends up in a messy situation when his ex-wife Maria Elena (Penelope Cruz) arrives on the scene and takes up residence with them because she needs Juan's company after a failed suicide attempt. Meanwhile, Vicky, who had gone along for the trip, ends up in a one-night stand with Juan after having a few drinks, and that one night might give Vicky second thoughts about her visiting fiance Doug. Good Woody Allen fare. Penelope Cruz won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
