  President James Marshall (Harrison Ford) is returning from the USSR after delivering a speech deploring terrorists led by Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) when all aboard Air Force One including Marshall's wife and daughter (Wendy Crewson and Liesel Matthews) are taken hostage. This daring act leaves Vice President Kathryn Bennett (Glenn Close) in the position of trying to maintain world peace until the President and his entourage can be rescued.
