College student Dan Bartlett (John Cusack) misses his plane on the way to meet his girlfriend Lori (Wendy Gazelle) and her family (Shelley Fabares, Monte Markham, and Dah-ve Chodan). He takes the next plane but then is delayed again–this time by pirate sea captain Mac MacClaren (Robert Loggia). Dan escapes, but a series of mishaps still lie on his path to Lori who is now resisting the advances of Chris Honeywell (Ben Stiller).
