Ricky Ross (Glenn Plummer) wants to work his way out of the Los Angeles slums, and selling drugs is a good way to make money. He forms the "Freeway Boyz" and sets up the drug operation–not knowing that his suppliers are affiliated with the CIA.

Now, Howard seeks vengeance by planting a bomb on a city bus that will explode when the bus goes less than 50 mph if Howard does not receive $3.7 million. In an effort to save the passengers, Jack boards the bus and tries to save all–especially the beautiful driver (Sandra Bullock). Oscars were won for Best Sound and Sound Effects.
