Young Juli (Morgan Lily) is in second grade and loves her trees and chickens and has a crush on her second grade schoolmate Bryce (Ryan Ketzner). Bryce does not return Juli's affections, and, as the years pass, Julie continues to adore Brice. Teenager John Smith (Alex Pettyfer) is an alien from a distant world who is hiding on Earth. He changes his identity and moves from town to town with his guardian, Henri (Timothy Olyphant). As the new kid in school, John tries to adapt and even finds his first love with Sara (Dianna Agron), and, in the process, John begins to form a bond, but then the Magadorians descend on the town, and battles begin.
