This is one of the great World War II films. It relates the saga of U.S. Army Sergeant Bill Dane (Robert Taylor) and his rear guard soldiers as they protect General Douglas MacArthur's army during the retreat down a peninsula on Bataan. They face certain death while delaying the advancing Japanese troops in pursuit of MacArthur but are prepared to sacrifice themselves for their country.

But, the King's brother, Prince John (Sam De Grasse), who was left behind in charge, ursurps the throne and becomes an oppressive ruler. The Earl takes on the pseudonym of "Robin Hood" and returns to save the day.
