This is the definitive movie on 1970s' teenage culture. The story is about 19-year-old Brooklyn native Tony Manero (John Travolta) who lives for Saturday night disco dancing. But, disco dancing is one of the few good things in Tony's life where his priest brother (Martin Shakar) gets all the accolades at home. A chance for change appears in the form of Stephanie (Karen Lynn Gorney) who wants to leave Brooklyn and move to the big city of Manhattan. After Stephanie and Tony enter a dance competition as partners, Tony's life is destined to change forever. Travolta was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar. Sequel: "Staying Alive."
